so i've been working on my cartooning. my plan was to work on drawing classic disney characters for a job opportunity. i haven't exactly gotten around to that yet... but i will eventually, i'm sure. this is what i have been up to instead...
i guess i've had titanic on the brain lately. also, i've finally come up with a basic plot summary for that book i've always secretly thought about writing. someone remind me to write it in about a month.

yesterday's tomorrow
life. it's just one of those things. a friend from when i lived in san diego passed away of cancer late last week. it's one of those things that is difficult to wrap your mind around. she was young with a husband and two small children and it's one of those things that just isn't fair. it simply isn't. she was a good woman who loved life and people. she loved to travel and to run and to learn. and she loved disneyland. it was her favorite place. her wedding ring had three diamonds shaped in a mickey head. my friend katie came down from the bay area for the first of the services on wednesday evening. thursday we went to disney. it seemed like a good way to celebrate the life of our friend.
katie is a wonderful friend. i always have so much fun spending time with her. it's funny to think about how much time has passed and how much has changed since i met katie. we met when i moved to san diego. so i've known her for about six years now. and before wednesday the last time i saw her was a little more than three years ago. but it was like we had seen each other the week before. it's just like that with some people. we were both a little scatter brained yesterday (we lost the car in the parking structure... something i *never* do). at california adventure they have this class that is like 15 minutes long where they teach you how to draw a disney character. we tried all day long to go to it but as soon as we found out what time the next class was we would walk away and instantly forget about going. the last thing we did yesterday was to finally get into the class. here are our drawings:
please note that it wasn't until about half way through the day that we realized we wore matching outfits. i'm quite proud of my piglet. i've decided it's probably time that i started practicing drawing again. i just need to get some pencils (i had to get rid of all my art supplies in the move across the country) and check out some books from the library.
i guess my take away from this last week is to always be immersed in the things we love, to care for people more than is comfortable and don't be afraid of living.
