once my mom was driving along and she saw a briefcase lying on the side of the road. being a woman who enjoys a good adventure as much as her daughter she pulled over to retrieve it. she gets it home and we open the weather beaten case to find:
clown shoes a colorful wig a squirty flower index cards with jokes on them
which makes me wonder: 1. what happened in this poor clown's life? 2. what kind of clown carries his supplies in a briefcase?!
and now i'm wondering: 3. where did that stuff go?!? i hope we threw it on the side of the road again for some other adventurer to find.
this reminds me of the time i dressed up for halloween as 'this book will change your life.' it was a pretty amazing costume but i guess not too many people have heard of that book and all night people were asking me 'what book will change my life?' and i'd have to be like this book will change your life. those were the days!
UPDATE: because laurel is awesome she was able to find this:

we went camping this weekend. and by this weekend i mean friday night. here i am saturday morning ready to make the traditional much too large camping breakfast. we even had a bacon scented fire for a while. what more could a person ever want?! hey, look at how green those trees are! welcome to virginia friends.
next is a picture of jim and his fire starting skills. look at him go. best camping moment: the fire was starting to die down and without any question in his mind jim jumps up, rips off his shirt and begins fanning the flames. kristi and i just sat there, shocked, wondering what in the world was going on. maybe some man ritual we'd never experienced before? a few moments passed, he came to, realized what he was doing and put his shirt back on and moved on to the blowing on the fire portion of the ritutal... which actual worked remarkably well!
after breakfast we did a little hike which led to a river overlook. i wish i would have brought my camera with me so i could have gotten some pictures of us there. instead i have this: that's some guy from the internet. we'll call him steve. he looks so happy to be there. it was a really pretty view and some awesome people came and talked to us about how we should go to a berry festival. every single one of us decided that we wanted to be those people when we grow up. they were amazing. i bet they even know steve.
friday morning when i got to work i had about 30 emails and i was sooo confused b/c normally when i get to work i have about 15 emails. anyway, as i'm freaking out at the potential increased work load i notice that the majority of them are in response to an email with the subject: 2010 q1 sales contest winner. i open in the first email in the series, and who won the contest for highest percentage to budget for the quarter? this guy. oh yeah. i was 173% to budget for the quarter (being 260% to budget in march really helped on that one). my prize is coming in the mail this next week. i hope it's something awesome. like money. or an ipod. an ipod is not something i would ever buy for myself but if someone gave me one i'd think it was awesome.
i'm hoping to get a trip to california in some time this summer. i need a vacation soon. in fact, i would love to take a day off some time soon. work makes my brain crazy... i've been extra aggressive lately so i think that means i need a little break. ps sorry for punching you yesterday kevin (you totally deserved it though).
i am a little ashamed to admit just how much i love this song. because i love it a lot. i also love that i know that this is filmed at the jillian's at the universal city walk in la. i love that the bowling lanes say eat drink play on them. the slogan we purchased from jillian's when we bought the majority of their stores. but that's not why i love this song. it's just so catchy and fun to dance in the car to. also this kid is famous because of youtube. i just love everything about this.
this wasn't my original thought but i'd like to say i don't understand why people lie. i mean, eventually the real story is going to come out. especially when he made us all connect with him on linked in. so weird.
dave & buster's was acquired two days ago. to reiterate the sentiment of corporate... nothing is going to change. but the one thing i know in life is that the one thing that never changes is that change always happens. when he told me nothing was going to change i told him buddy i've been around this place long enough to know things always change and we just roll with it, don't worry about me. i don't know why a person would ever promise that things will never change. it would be terrible if things stay like they are forever.
back to my original thoughts: first, when i put on my running shoes i feel like i could power through anything. i think these shoes must be magic. anyway, running gives you time to think. i do a lot of thinking like this 'my heart is going to explode. my heart is going to explode. i'm going to puke.' luckily neither of those things has happened yet. whew! this morning i was thinking about how i currently don't know what it is that i want. there are so many things going on in my head and it's confusing. but there are some things i know for sure. i know i am a daughter of God. i know i want my family to be eternal. i know i am capable and able to take take care of myself. i know my mental agility is a 5 (ha! that's a joke for me... we're doing our reviews at work and we have to score our own mental agility on a scale of 1-5. i gave a big speech about why mine is a 5. james says i have something smart to say about everything. i told him that proves my point exactly.). i know i can do anything i put my mind to. i know i need to learn patience.
and i suppose those are the things i know this morning.
this afternoon we have a meeting of the party planning committee.
in the interest of doing things the way i always do them i must begin by saying: 'i'm exhausted.' that's nothing new i suppose. some day soon i hope to have an evening where i just it at home and enjoy being alone. not that it isn't great to have all sorts of fun adventures but i'm tired.
so this evening i went to a squirrel's game. i was walking along minding my business when i suddenly felt something smack the top of my head. i realized that a portion of the fence was bent and i had slammed my head on it and in the process the top little pieces managed to get stuck in my hair and i was caught. luckily erica was there to free me as nate ran off yelling 'wait i have to get my camera.' nice, right? luckily i only sustained minor head injuries and i've moved on with my life. i blame this incident on the fact that it is ridiculously hot out lately. it makes no sense but i'm going with that.
tonight when i was leaving the grocery store it was humid out. i enjoy the humidity. it lets you know that the air is filling the empty space.
